Policing Informed by Awareness
Rajesh Dandotiya is a senior police officer, author and cyber-awareness advocate currently serving as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Indore.
Across more than two decades of police service, his work has included crime prevention, cybercrime, organised crime, financial offences, investigation and public communication. He has served in policing and investigative roles across Madhya Pradesh, including assignments in Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa.
His experience has reinforced a simple principle: policing is not limited to responding after a crime. It must also equip citizens to recognise danger early, question manipulation and take timely action.
A focus on cyber awareness
As digital services have become part of everyday life, cybercrime has increasingly targeted human behaviour. Fraudsters create urgency, impersonate trusted institutions and isolate victims from family or independent advice. Rajesh Dandotiya’s awareness work focuses on explaining these methods in language that is direct, practical and relevant to ordinary users.
His sessions and digital advisories address audiences with different needs, including students, working professionals, business owners, families and senior citizens. Rather than relying on technical terminology, he uses real patterns of fraud to show what people should notice, avoid and report.
Public communication with a purpose
Through awareness programmes, books, interviews and social platforms, he works to build a more informed digital society. The objective is not to create fear around technology, but to help people use it with greater confidence and responsibility.
